Neoconservatism: Paradigm of Incompetence

It's no wonder that 72% of the country knows we're heading in the wrong direction. When you have "leaders" like these, it's painfully obvious:

Mark Foley was a member of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children which was created to “coordinate federal legislation preventing… solicitation of minors for sexual activity." He resigned because he was confronted with sexually explicit emails to a former male page.

Randall Tobias was the first US Global AIDS Coordinator, and he wrote the rules for receiving US aid for AIDS relief; one of those rules was denouncing prostitution. The same Mr. Tobias admitted that he had been a customer of a D.C. escort service, whose owner had been charged with running a prostitution operation.

An essential role of Donald Rumsfeld’s job as Secretary of Defense was recognizing what the military needs to be able to accomplish in the future and to move them to that point, for the purpose of making America safer. Encouraging an illegitimate war does not allow the military to prepare for the future, and exacerbating the already large conflict in the Middle East does not make America safer.

As Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice’s primary responsibility is to “conduct negotiations relating to US foreign affairs.” The definition of negotiate is “to deal or bargain with…others.” Yet Ms. Rice said of diplomacy: “It is not dealmaking."

Alberto Gonzales is the chief law enforcement officer of the US government; his job is to uphold the Constitution. Yet he has described certain provisions of Article III as "quaint". How is someone who doesn’t respect the law qualified to be the chief law enforcement officer? He doesn't think the right to Habeas Corpus is expressed in the Constitution for crying out loud!

George Bush is the Commander in Chief of the United States, which means he makes the final decisions when it comes to the armed forces. But on nearly every possible occasion he says that he listens to the generals, acts according to what the generals on the ground have to say (etc.), because what decent American would blame our brave men and women? He hides behind them like human shields! He is supposed to make the final decisions. He is supposed to take responsibility, not defer responsibility to the generals.

What's next? Is the Secretary of the Treasury running a counterfeiting operation?
