Wounded Soldier: Military Wants Part Of Bonus Back

The U.S. Military is demanding that thousands of wounded service personnel give back signing bonuses because they are unable to serve out their commitments.

To get people to sign up, the military gives enlistment bonuses up to $30,000 in some cases.

Now men and women who have lost arms, legs, eyesight, hearing and can no longer serve are being ordered to pay some of that money back.

So let me see if I have this right. The United States government uses less than ethical recruiting methods preying, predominantly on the poor and uneducated to get US citizens to sign up for military service with the lure of cash and signing bonuses to beef up recruitment numbers. They give them or rather make them purchase inferior equipment. They send them in to a war-zone. If they die they're treated disdainfully. If they get injured and can no longer serve their country, a country they were obviously willing to die for - they are told to return a percentage of their signing bonus? Is it any wonder their recruitment numbers are down? FOR SHAME Government of The United States of America! FOR SHAME!
